Aside from mixing, I want to listen to music on my monitors from my MP3 player or phone without having to turn on a computer and plug in a USB device. Would a mixer suffice instead of an audio interface? I'm finding a number of second hand mixers that are cheaper than interfaces and I really don't like the USB aspect of the audio interface. Not that it would make a difference on a laptop, as there's no ground/earth. If I have to get an audio interface or a DAC, what's the cheapest one I can get away with that'll have a stereo input and two XLR or TSR outputs?Īny info helps, and if you can provide links that would be great.unbalanced. Is a audio interface required, or can I get away with an adaptor cable? (I really don't want to buy another piece of equipment, so hopefully a cable can suffice)Ĭan a cable with an adaptor split the signal L/R, or will both inputs to the monitors be mono? Is a headphone jack balanced or unbalanced, RCA, TS or TSR? There's a lot of info out there, but it's been difficult to put it all together, so I have a few questions for you guys. I have solely used headphones plugged into my laptops 1/8" headphone jack, and I was wondering what cable setup I would need for the monitors, which each have a balanced TSR and XLR input. Hey slutz, I'm planning on upgrading my setup for mixing by picking up two JBL LSR305 monitors.
